Produced in Switzerland. The brand Maestrani. Ludovico Aquilino Maestrani, known as Aquilino, learned chocolate making from his father in Lombardy. In 1852, he settled in Lucerne and opened his own shop. In 1859, Aquilino moved his business to St. Gallen and built a magnificent structure - the Marble House - with modern exhibition and sales rooms. In addition to fine chocolate, he also offered other delicacies and tropical fruits there. By then, Aquilino had capable helpers and successors for the family business in his three sons Ludovico, Roberto, and Savino. Due to high demand, the name Maestrani became synonymous with good chocolate and was even appointed as the official supplier to King Umberto of Italy in 1884. As a pioneer, Maestrani began producing organic and Fairtrade chocolate as early as 1987 and continues to promote sustainability and fair trade to this day. With the acquisition of Munz in 1998, the construction of the new production hall in Flawil began, and all production and administration were relocated there in 2004, ensuring the continued creation of excellent chocolate specialties like Minor and Munz.
