Great as a gift or for personal enjoyment. The brand Maestrani. Ludovico Aquilino Maestrani, known as Aquilino, learned chocolate making from his father in Lombardy. In 1852, he settled in Lucerne and opened his own shop. In 1859, Aquilino moved his business to St. Gallen and built an impressive structure - the Marble House - with modern exhibition and sales rooms. In addition to fine chocolate, he also offered other delicacies and tropical fruits there. By this time, Aquilino had capable helpers and successors in his three sons Ludovico, Roberto, and Savino for the family business. Due to high demand, the name Maestrani became synonymous with good chocolate and was even appointed as the court supplier to King Umberto of Italy in 1884. As a pioneer, Maestrani began producing organic and Fairtrade chocolate as early as 1987, ensuring sustainability and fair trade to this day. With the acquisition of Munz in 1998, the construction of the new production hall in Flawil began, and the entire production and administration were relocated there in 2004, allowing for the continued creation of excellent chocolate specialties like Minor and Munz.
