Product details
Their taste is unique – a bit like Mother Nature wanted to challenge us to see who makes the best gummy bears. They taste sweet, honey-like, and have a pleasant mouthfeel – simply a dream. We are talking about mulberries, those little dried fruits that we all love and unfortunately eat far too rarely.
Did you know that mulberries are among the oldest cultivated plants in the world? They were grown in China over 4500 years ago in the context of silkworm farming. For this reason, they were brought to Southern Europe by the Romans in the 11th century. Of the 12 naturally occurring varieties, the red mulberry from North America, the black mulberry from Persia, and the white mulberry from China have economic significance for nutrition. Mulberries resemble blackberries. When dried, the berries turn sand-colored to colorless and develop a tough outer shell.
Consumption recommendation: When using dried mulberries, your imagination knows no bounds. Whether enjoyed plain, in muesli, as a salad topping, or as a smoothie ingredient – these little fruits are always a great choice.
