Product details
Mulberries are among the oldest cultivated plants in the world, alongside figs. They have been grown in China for over 45 years in the context of silkworm farming. For this reason, they were introduced to Southern Europe by the Romans in the 11th century.
Of the 12 naturally occurring varieties, the red mulberry from North America, the black mulberry from Persia, and the white mulberry from China are of economic importance for nutrition. Mulberries resemble blackberries. When dried, the berries turn sand-colored to colorless and develop a tough outer shell.
Their taste is sweet, honey-like, and they are pleasantly crunchy. The mulberries come from controlled organic farming.
Recommended Use
Mulberries are an ideal snack for between meals and taste delicious in muesli.
