Cranberries, also known as large-fruited bog berries, are especially popular during the American Thanksgiving. They are quickly making their mark in Europe as well. In dried form, they are often offered in supermarkets as candied with sugar. We have made it our mission to eliminate sugar while still achieving a sweet taste. And behold: We have mastered this challenge with flying colors using apple juice. The fruit, which originates from North America, grows on shrubs and belongs to the heath family. The fruit can be harvested starting in September when its flesh is a juicy red. Cranberries contain four air chambers inside, allowing the fruit to float on the water's surface. Therefore, during large-scale cultivation, the fields are flooded with water. The cranberries are then separated from the shrub and collected using a machine.

Cranberries are rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and minerals, which is why they are reputed to help prevent urinary tract infections.

Consumption Recommendation

Raw cranberries are inedible as they are very bitter and sour. Therefore, they should always be processed further. The cranberries are dried and sweetened with apple juice, making them perfect for integrating into your bread, cakes, muesli, or porridge. They also make a particularly good snack on their own.
