Application:

Biodegradable products are made from materials that are fully broken down by naturally occurring microorganisms into water, carbon dioxide, and biomass. Unlike compostable products, they do not need to decompose within a specific time frame. The production primarily involves cellulose and fiber products based on sugar cane and palm leaves, as well as products derived from starch plants.

According to the definition, it does not matter whether renewable or non-renewable, i.e., fossil resources are used for production. Under real environmental conditions, biodegradable plastics gradually break down into microplastics, which only decompose very slowly into their chemical components. Oxo-degradable plastics have also been enriched with additives that break down into microplastic particles when exposed to heat or sunlight, which are hardly decomposed.
