In 1901, steelworkers who were renovating Glasgow's Central Station drank too much beer to quench their thirst. As a result, a local beverage manufacturer decided to create a tonic-like soft drink with caffeine and sugar to help them get through their hard workdays. "Iron-Brew" was born, and it was just the beginning of a long story in which it accompanied the Scots through tough times. In 1946, "Iron-Brew" had to be renamed due to new food labeling regulations, as it contained iron but was never brewed. Thus, the now legendary brand name "IRN-BRU" was created.
