The birth of the Emmi brand: In 1947, the Central Swiss Dairy Association in Lucerne first marketed soft cheese and yogurt under the brand name Emmi, named after the municipality of Emmen. Emmi's yogurts were initially offered in jars, and from 1962 in more practical plastic cups. In the following decades, sales steadily increased, and various manufacturers both domestically and abroad were acquired by Emmi, leading to the establishment or expansion of additional locations. The operation in Kaltbach was transformed into the Emmi cheese specialty facility with natural aging in the rock cellar. Well-known brands include Gerber, Caffé Latte, GALA, Aktifit, Comella, and Yogi Drink, but the Emmi Group also includes various brands from distant countries such as Kaiku from Spain, Surlat from Chile, Bonta Divina from Italy, and Cowgirl Creamery from America. Not only personalities like world champion Tom Lüthi or musician DJ Bobo benefit from sponsorship, but Emmi is also consistently present and engaged in alpine ski racing, children's and youth camps, as well as open-air festivals. Sustainability and consumer service are always at the forefront for Emmi, maintaining a close relationship with dairy farmers and striving for a reduction in emissions during production.
