The brand "DAR-VIDA" was established in 1937 at the then biscuit bakery Grieb & Co. in Grosshöchstetten with the first DAR-VIDA whole grain crackers. Initially, the crackers were only available in health food stores, but soon they were discovered by hikers as the ideal trail snack. In 1963, Grieb AG was acquired by the Swiss family business HUG AG.
