The wrapper is a velvety, hazelnut brown Connecticut from Ecuador. The binder of the cigar is made from Nicaraguan Criollo 98, which encases the filler from the Jalapa and Esteli regions. John Atherton describes the flavors of this Mezcla 40 as follows: "The first puff begins with a sweetness reminiscent of popcorn, accompanied by a slight chili spiciness. As it progresses, the aroma becomes noticeably spicier and slightly peppery, without losing the sweetness.".
