Instructions for use | Leather, plums, redcurrants and malted barley come to the fore, followed by toasted oak and notes of cinnamon, green apple and black pepper. Clouds of smoke and distinct red fruits follow, complemented by cereal notes of malt and porridge. The peat smoke is dry and brooding, with hints of burnt heather and subtle pipe tobacco from the oak. The European oak influence is unmistakable, with a hint of dryness balanced by the vibrancy of wood spices, smoked oak and roasted coffee. Grilled sweetness and a hint of black pepper are complemented by rich fruitcake and dried fruit. A drop of water opens up the smoke and fruity sweetness from the wine casks, bringing a lovely balance with notes of apple and pear that grow with the dram. |
