The label specifies how plant and animal organic foods must be produced: at least 95 percent of the product ingredients must come from organic farming. No organic-synthetic pesticides or chemically-synthetic fertilizers are used. Production is free from genetic engineering. Animals are kept in a manner that respects their needs for ventilation, space, comfort, and light. They are fed with organically produced feed without the addition of antibiotics or growth promoters. When treating sick animals, plant-based or homeopathic medicines are preferred. The feeding of animal meal is prohibited. For labeling, the code number of the organic control and the origin of all ingredients must be clearly visible in the field of vision of the EU Organic logo on the product.
