Maybelline Hyper Precise All Day. The Maybelline company was founded in the early 20th century by chemist T.L. Williams, who lived in New York. He once observed his sister dyeing her eyelashes with a black mixture of petroleum jelly and charcoal dust, and he created a similar product in his lab that achieved quite a decent success.
