Application:
Using the temperature method, the basal temperature must be measured each morning before getting out of bed with the help of a basal thermometer. This recorded value is entered into a chart. This creates a temperature curve over the course of the cycle, from which the fertile and infertile days can be read. In the first half of the cycle, the temperature is low. Just before ovulation, it may drop slightly lower. In the second half of the cycle, under the influence of progesterone, there is a temperature increase of at least 0.2 °C to 0.5 °C. This temperature rise remains until just before the next menstrual period, when it drops again by 0.2 °C to 0.5 °C.
