The rigid ankle brace is designed to stabilize the upper and lower ankle joints. It stabilizes the foot through medial and lateral plastic shells with side cushions made of foam. These conform optimally to the ankle and protect against lateral rolling, without excessively hindering the normal rolling motion. At the same time, free movement in plantar flexion (bending the foot towards the sole) is maintained.
