Inspiration
In 1921, Gabrielle Chanel asked Ernest Beaux to create "a perfume for women with a scent for women" that was rare and powerful. The perfumer presented her with a visionary composition that used aldehydes in an unprecedented way. Mademoiselle chose the fifth sample of the fragrance and decided to simply call it N°5. In 1924, she launched N°5 Eau de Toilette.
