Kilian Hennessy's Inspiration: On turbulent seas, a fleeting pirate ship evokes Black Phantom – "Memento Mori" – black water. Our founder collaborated with Sidonie Lancesseur to create this iconic fragrance, an Irish coffee with a twist, replacing the traditional whiskey with the pirates' liqueur: rum. Black Phantom – "Memento Mori" is a translucent, sensual allure designed for those who live for pleasure.

The Fragrance: The scent opens with the "Shin Shin" accord, a fiery drink of strong coffee with Caribbean rum. This coffee hides a deadly secret: what seems to be the scent of almonds is actually the aroma of deadly sparkling cyanide, a Memento Mori! The aromatic bitterness of the coffee is enhanced by the earthy warmth of vetiver from Java. Finally, the sweetness of the rum is reflected in the lush scent of sugarcane at the base of the fragrance, blended with darkly fragrant creamy sandalwood.
