Do we really have free will? Who decides this? Are we controlled by what we hear and what we see, even while thinking we decide freely? Insider is a game that explores these questions. While communicating with others, you must find the right answers to a quiz or identify the "insider" who is manipulating the discussion. The insider will do everything to hide their identity while misleading the others.
In more detail, players are assigned roles at random. One player is the "master," who secretly selects a word from a set given in a deck of cards. In a variant provided in the rulebook, they can freely select and write down a word. The "insider" player, whose role is not known to the other players, will then secretly view the word. The rest of the players are known as "commons." The commons have approximately five minutes to ask the master "yes" or "no" questions to deduce the secret word. The insider attempts to secretly lead the commons toward the correct word. If the commons fail to guess the correct word, everyone loses.
If the word is correctly guessed within the allowable time, the master flips the sand timer, and the commons and master have until the sand runs out to discuss the game and deduce the identity of the insider. If they guess correctly, they win the game together; if they do not, the insider wins.

At the beginning of the game, the papillons are placed on each flower of the pairie (the 5x5 grille of the main board). On each turn, the players try to fulfil their objectives in order to accumulate more victory points.
During his turn, the active player chooses a case from the field and takes all the available papillons. Then, one by one, he replaces them on the grid: the first one on no matter which adjacent case to the one where the papillons were taken, the next one on an adjacent case... and so on from there.
The aim is to place the last papillon on the case that fulfils one of your placement or composition objectives.
