In fast-forgotten European, North and South American songs of complaint and protest, as well as new, original tracks, Dodo Hug and Efisio Contini tell the story of the working class from the era of industrialization to the present day. Sometimes cheeky, rebellious, spirited, or melancholically defiant, and at other times sharp-witted and revealing, with a sense of subtle humor. The songs address themes such as exploitation, oppression, migration, unemployment, child labor, but also hopes and longings that (unfortunately) have lost none of their relevance. Multilingual and virtuoso, with great musical diversity, and as is customary from Dodo Hug and Efisio Contini, they sing protest songs in German, Italian, French, Spanish, and English—songs of passion, songs of hope.
