Twelve-year-old Gustave wants to become a famous illustrator. But first, he must face mysterious giants, Siamese twin tornadoes, and the most terrifying of all monsters. He has to rescue a maiden from the claws of a dragon, ride through a forest full of ghosts and a galactic drain, and encounter a dream princess, a talking horse, scantily clad Amazons, and ultimately even himself. In a single night, Gustave must travel from Earth to the Moon, across the entire universe, and back again, as he has made a bet with Death that involves nothing less than his life and soul.
