Screenwriter Emily is tasked with writing the script for the film adaptation of Ryan Scott's bestseller. However, the first meeting in London is tense; neither of them is willing to compromise, and the situation escalates repeatedly. What Emily doesn't know is that Ryan's young daughter Kelly has leukemia, and only an expensive treatment in the USA promises salvation. What Ryan doesn't know is that Emily's long-time boyfriend Luca is depressed, and Emily is also in urgent need of her fee. By the end of their joint project, Emily and Ryan are hopelessly in love with each other. But they cannot be together. Years later, fate brings them back together in a wild garden by the Helford River.
