When 89-year-old Edna from South Tyrol discovers a picture of her childhood friend Jacob in a German magazine, she sets out across the Alps to settle an old debt. For an entire lifetime, Edna and Jacob had to toil under the harshest conditions for Swabian landowners, just like thousands of mountain farmers' children before them. World War II tore them apart. On foot, by bus, and by train, Edna begins a journey filled with touching encounters and a long-awaited reconciliation.
