When the days lost their light

In 1930s Berlin, life is bustling, but dark clouds are already looming on the horizon. Linda and Gitte, daughters of a liberal, middle-class family, are enjoying their youth. Linda marries the sensitive and charismatic Erich, the love of her life. When he does not return from the war, she falls into deep melancholy and is eventually committed to a mental institution - a dangerous situation in a time when mental illnesses can lead to a death sentence. During a supposed transfer of patients, the bus gets into a serious accident, and Linda manages to escape.
