what's left of summer

This summer, nothing is going right for Louise. Her parents feel more foreign to her than ever, and so do her classmates, especially since the incident with Paul. And her supposedly good plan to organize her job at the traffic light bakery and delivering newspapers so she can quickly get through her driving lessons fails miserably in practice. Maybe she shouldn’t have promised her grandma to take care of her short-winded dog, Bonnie. And then there’s Jana, sitting on an electrical box in the middle of summer, eating one of those small, wrapped chocolate cakes. She suddenly follows Louise like a shadow, almost as if she expects Louise to show her how to live.
