Napoleon and the good night

The story comes from "s' Järbsyte Peters Gschichtli vom alten Napolion u vom Chräjebüel," written down in 1908. Napoleon actually had a bearish Rosschnächt and cultivated a healthy relationship with him. The young Peter still knew the Rosschnächt Chräjebüel personally, and Emil Günter heard the story and wrote it down in 1908, just as his friends had asked him to do. You can still find the book in a second-hand bookshop; there have been several reprints.

However, this story is quite different from "Järbsyte- Peters Gschichtli." Napoleon's friend is called Bänz Guetchnächt and comes from Lushütte-Hoger on the Napf. As Bänz and Napoleon have been doing, they travel from the Lushütte up in the Napf to Waterloo. Of course, there's a bear involved, but the neighbor has made sure that the good old patrician bear has nothing more to say.
