London during the pre-Christmas season: Kate's (Emilia Clarke) life is anything but smooth. She stumbles from one self-inflicted chaos to the next, and even her job as an elf in a Christmas shop brings her no joy. It seems like a miracle when one day Tom (Henry Golding) enters her life and gradually manages to break through the many barriers that Kate has built around herself and her heart. However, even though Tom succeeds in bringing joy and self-confidence back to Kate, he seems to have a secret of his own. As London transforms into a dazzling display of Christmas lights, Kate learns that sometimes she just has to let things happen and follow her heart, or in the words of George Michael: "You gotta have faith!".
