Under the dust of time

End of the 1950s: As the son of a pastor, Daniel is denied his high school diploma in his East German hometown and therefore moves to Berlin. Together with his roommates from the student dormitory, all of whom, like him, come from the GDR, he explores the city: As a newspaper seller, he wanders through the pubs, experiences Bill Haley setting the Sportpalast ablaze, and the revival preacher Billy Graham. But most of all, Daniel loves to write his plays and soon makes his first connections to the Berlin theater scene. Christoph Hein tells the story of a youth in the shadow of the Berlin Wall's construction and brings Berlin in those years back to life through his narrative.
