Product details
Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) has taken a rather unconventional path in life. In a miserable way, he vegetates and lounges around day in and day out with his best friends. They steal, cheat, con people, and are all too happy to shoot up heroin. This life is a 24-hour job for Mark, Daniel (Ewen Bremner), also known as Spud, and Simon (Jonny Lee Miller), whom they call 'Sickboy': getting their fix and making it through the long, hard day. The group also includes Tommy (Kevin McKidd) and the violent Francis Begbie (Robert Carlyle). However, at some point, Mark realizes that there must be more to life; he needs a girlfriend. Unfortunately, that goes wrong too, as he only realizes the next morning that he spent a wild night with the underage student Diane (Kelly MacDonald) - and that could get awkward. He and his so-called friends continually find themselves in the strangest situations and, above all, in trouble. Eventually, Mark declares war on his drug life - and fails. His parents can’t take it anymore, and so Mark, through a more or less voluntary action, finally gets 'clean.' He doesn’t see his friends often anymore, gets an apartment, looks for a job, and saves some money. Unfortunately, this doesn’t last long, as Begbie comes looking for him, needing to hide from the police. Later, Sickboy shows up, and Mark drifts back into his old life. Suddenly, a big drug deal presents itself by chance, promising thousands of pounds. But can Mark get his life back on track once more?.
