Toffee

Toffee is the story of a girl who leaves but doesn’t know where to go. Allison has stayed with her father for far too long. She has endured the pain and the beatings for far too long. She ends up somewhere in a small village by the lake. In a house that she thinks is abandoned, she meets Marla, an elderly woman with dementia who lives there all alone. Marla believes the girl is her childhood friend Toffee, and Allison, who is used to hiding her true self, slips into the role of the long-lost friend. However, the longer Allison is Toffee, the bigger the questions and doubts become: Is it cruel to deceive Marla? What will happen when Marla's condition worsens? And who is she, Allison, really?.
