When the young reporter Tim buys an old ship model at a flea market, he is surprised to see that suddenly interested parties are popping up like mushrooms. Through his dog Snowy, Tim eventually discovers that a piece of a treasure map is hidden in the model. Driven by insatiable curiosity, Tim investigates further. This leads him not only to the sinister Sakharin but also to finding a friend in the drunken Captain Haddock.
