The walker from Sans-Souci

Berlin, 1933. Elsa and Michel Wiener take in twelve-year-old Jewish Max Baumstein after his father is killed by the SA. Elsa travels with him to Paris, while her husband is supposed to follow - but never arrives. She struggles to make a living as a singer in Paris and has to make significant personal sacrifices in her effort to help her husband.

Paris, 1981. Max has become a forty-year-old man. He stands trial for having killed a man. He recognized the former German tormentor of his family in that person. Only now does his young wife Lina learn the dramatic story of her husband.
