You really need a very large screen to have enough space for Homer Simpson's antics - and "The Simpsons Movie" provides just that! In this highly anticipated animated film, based on the successful TV series, Homer must save the world from a disaster he himself has caused! An unfortunate combination of many things sets everything in motion: Homer, whose new pet is a pig, along with a silo filled with waste that has a leak... and Springfield is turned upside down. Marge is deeply upset by Homer's clumsiness, while a vengeful mob makes its way to the Simpson household. The only option is to flee. This ends in disaster as family members quickly get into arguments and go their separate ways. The citizens of Springfield are understandably outraged, as Homer's foolishness has attracted the attention of US President Arnold Schwarzenegger and top environmentalist Russ Cargill. "You see, Sir," Cargill explains to the President, "when you appointed me head of the EPA, you were praised for giving one of America's most successful men the leadership of one of the least successful US agencies. Why did I take the job? Because I am a wealthy man who wants to give something back. Not money, but something." This "something" aims to prevent the disaster in Springfield. In doing so, the devil is driven out by Beelzebub. And while Springfield's fate hangs by a thread, Homer embarks on his odyssey - a difficult journey, as he must hope for Marge's forgiveness, reunite his scattered family, and save his hometown.
