For ten years, brothers Iwan and Andrej lived alone with their mother in a provincial town in Russia. They led a carefree, worry-free life until their father suddenly reappeared. Until then, they had only known him from a photograph. He takes the two children on an adventurous journey that ends on a mysterious island – seven days of perilous travel that turns into an archaic father-son drama. The rugged landscape of Northern Russia reflects the wildness of the man, who ultimately must battle the forces he himself unleashed.
