Greece in the 4th century BC. The young Hipparchia lives a life that many envy. Raised in wealth and security, she is to be married to the son of a respected family. However, Hipparchia is eager to learn; she wants to read and participate in the philosophical circles that are reserved for men. When she meets the headstrong philosopher Krates, she is fascinated by his liberating views and his lifestyle, which is far removed from wealth and social norms. Soon, she must make a radical decision.
