Clint Eastwood plays Earl Stone, an eighty-year-old man who is deeply in debt and facing the foreclosure of his business when he receives a job offer that only requires him to drive. Unbeknownst to him, Earl has signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does his job well—so well that his cargo becomes increasingly valuable, and he is assigned a handler from the cartel. But he is not the only one watching Earl: the mysterious new drug courier has also caught the attention of tough DEA agent Colin Bates. However, even though his financial troubles are now behind him, Earl is increasingly burdened by the mistakes of his past—and it remains uncertain whether he has time to make amends or if the law or the cartel will catch up with him first.
