The great summer

Friedrich is sixteen and a lousy student. Because his promotion is at risk, he has to study for the retake exams – the entire long summer, while his family goes on vacation to the seaside. As if that weren't enough, he is supposed to stay with his grandfather, whom he had to address formally until a few years ago. Friedrich is horrified. His only comfort is Beate, the girl in the bottle-green swimsuit, whom he meets at the public pool on one of the last days before the holidays. And despite all the dreadful premonitions, the summer becomes unforgettable – and changes Friedrich's life forever.
