The garden house

An elderly couple loses their only son after a sudden death from cancer. Mourning enters the villa inhabited by countless memories, the family residence becomes the scene of a grotesque drama. The spouses get lost in increasingly bizarre mourning rituals. A real small war begins, desperate and comical at the same time. On the one hand, the son of a mountain man who served his way up to the rank of colonel in the Swiss army; on the other, his wife Lucienne, heiress to an upper-class existence. And between them the fate, which, in the form of a cemetery kitten, literally creeps into their dying existence on quiet soles. This superbly cast radio play skilfully transforms Hürlimann's melancholy novella, written with loving irony.
