It was the largest counterfeiting operation in history. Over 130 million British pounds were printed under circumstances that could not have been more spectacular and tragic. As the situation became increasingly hopeless in the final years of the war, the leadership of the German Reich decided to produce the banknotes of its main enemies themselves. The intention was to flood the enemy's economy with the counterfeit money and fill the empty war coffers.

In the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, two barracks were converted into a perfectly equipped counterfeiting workshop under the codename "Operation Bernhard," strictly isolated from the rest of the camp and the outside world. The prisoners had a choice: if they supported the enemy, they had the chance to survive – as first-class prisoners in a "golden cage," with sufficient food and their own beds included. If they sabotaged the operation, it meant certain death. For the counterfeiters, it was no longer just about saving their lives, but also about their own conscience...
