At the beginning of this comedy gem, Chaplin's Tramp is, as always, in a tight spot - he's broke and has to tighten his belt. He will fall in love again, only to lose the girl just as quickly. Mistaken for a pickpocket, the Tramp is pursued by a policeman all the way to a circus arena, where he captivates the audience, as they believe the chase is part of the show. Classic highlights include a wild sequence in a haunted house, the chaos created by a parody of a magic trick, and Chaplin's death-defying tightrope walk - with monkeys on his head. A comedy without a safety net!.
