Sorey grew up as a human among the Seraphim, spiritual beings that are generally invisible to humans. His goal is to make the world a place where humans and Seraphim can coexist. One day, when he enters the capital of humans for the first time, he becomes involved in an incident where he pulls the Holy Sword from a rock, thus becoming the legendary vanquisher of evil, the Shepherd. Over time, he begins to understand the significance of this title, making his dream seem increasingly distant.

The anime is based on the previous games Tales of Zestiria and Tales of Berseria by Bandai Namco. Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, who is also known for Demon Slayer and the anime adaptation of Tales of Symphonia. This OVA was produced by the renowned studio ufotable. Both the games and the anime series are very popular in Germany.
