In the mid-1980s, Compton, located on the outskirts of L.A., is one of the most dangerous places in the USA. The conflict between rival gangs is escalating, crack dealing is part of everyday life, and almost daily, young African Americans are dying in the streets. The Los Angeles Police Department, known for its racism, cracks down hard, and the cycle of violence continues unabated. This theme, alarmingly, has lost none of its relevance to this day.

The gang capital with the highest crime rate in the country profoundly impacts five young men. They begin to process their bitter experiences through radically honest music. In their lyrics, they rebel against the brutal everyday life, police brutality, and their seemingly hopeless situation. With the album Straight Outta Compton, N.W.A. (Niggaz Wit Attitudes) gives an oppressed generation an explosive voice and a new sound that continues to shake the country and the entire music industry to this day.
