Product details
The story of a shipwrecked man who spends 28 years on a deserted tropical island. It is the year 1651. Seventeen-year-old Robinson Crusoe does not want to lead a boring life like his father, a merchant from the English city of Hull. He flees from home and goes on various ships. During one of his journeys in 1659, the ship runs aground, and Robinson is the only survivor. He finds himself on a lonely island where, as it turns out, he will spend the next 28 years. Slowly, he settles down, builds a house, grows crops, tames goats and a parrot, and makes pottery. Items found from another shipwreck help him survive. Years later, cannibals reach his island. Robinson manages to save one of the victims, a native whom he names Friday (after the day of the week he met him). Robinson civilizes the savage and makes him a companion in his misery. He teaches him English and converts him to Christianity. Years later, a ship under a pirate flag, steered by mutinous sailors, arrives on the island. Robinson helps the captain regain control of the ship and is able to return to his home in England.
