Texas, 1890: The whaler George Hansen returns to his father's farm and learns that he has been murdered on behalf of the unscrupulous oil speculator Ed McNeil. McNeil's gunman Johnny Crale now also wants to get rid of George. In order to have a chance in the fight against McNeil's gang, he asks the inhabitants of Prairie City for help - but they are afraid. Hansen bravely faces the duel with Crale alone, armed only with a harpoon.
