Brian is born in the year of our Lord, but in the cow shed next door. The Three Wise Men, who accidentally go to Brian's stable first, quickly realize their mistake when they are scolded by Brian's mother: "The real Jesus is next door." It seems that Brian's life path is predetermined: resistance fighter of the Judean People's Front, uh... People's Front of Judea, the new Messiah, and in the end - crucifixion. In the early Middle Ages, King Arthur traverses the still relatively uninhabited England with his noble knights to free the realm from the invading French and to capture the legendary Holy Grail.
