Small dirty letters

The lively Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley) has little in common with the pious Edith Swan (Olivia Colman), except that they are neighbors in the English coastal town of Littlehampton in the 1920s. One day, however, Edith and others in the town receive offensive letters filled with vile accusations in coarse language, and suspicion immediately falls on Rose. Scotland Yard investigates, and Rose even risks losing custody of her daughter. As the scandalous letters continue to haunt the town, only police officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan) senses that something is amiss and that Rose may not be the culprit after all.

The lead roles in "Little Dirty Letters" are played by Oscar and BAFTA winner Olivia Colman ("The Father," "The Favourite," "The Crown") and Oscar and BAFTA-nominated Jessie Buckley ("The Lost Daughter," "Women Talking," "Chernobyl"). Other roles include Anjana Vasan ("We Are Lady Parts," "Killing Eve"), BAFTA-nominated Timothy Spall ("Mr. Turner," "Spencer"), BAFTA winner Joanna Scanlan ("After Love," "Notes on a Scandal"), Hugh Skinner ("Fleabag"), BAFTA winner Malachi Kirby ("Small Axe" film series, "Anansi Boys"), Gemma Jones ("Bridget Jones" trilogy, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & 2"), Lolly Adefope ("Ghosts"), Eileen Atkins ("The Crown"), and Alisha Weir ("Matilda - The Musical"). Directed by Thea Sharrock ("Me Before You," "The One and Only Ivan," "The Beautiful Game"), the screenplay is by British actor and writer Jonny Sweet and is based on a true story.
