The house donkey is originally descended from the African donkey. It copes well with hot temperatures and has low dietary demands. It is often described as stubborn and foolish when it seemingly stops without reason and refuses to move on. However, the opposite is true. Donkeys cannot run as fast as horses, so it would be illogical for them to panic and flee in a dangerous situation. They first consider whether they are actually in danger and, if so, which escape route would be the best.
