Saving Private Ryan

From the perspective of a unit of American soldiers, the film begins on the day of the historic D-Day invasion of World War II with the landing on the beach. From here, the unit embarks on a dangerous special mission: Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) must lead his men behind enemy lines to find Private James Ryan (Matt Damon), whose three brothers have died on the battlefield. Faced with this seemingly impossible task, the men begin to doubt their orders. Why risk eight lives to save one? Surrounded by the brutal reality of war, each one searches for their own answer. And they seek the strength to triumph over an uncertain future with honor, dignity, and courage.
