Ben Mears, a mediocre writer, returns to his hometown of Salem's Lot after many years. He shows a striking interest in the Marsten House, which is considered a haunted house and has been empty since the mysterious death of its occupants in 1939. An eerie force emanates from this house, and soon it becomes clear who is haunting Salem's Lot: a vampire.
