On the day before Christmas, Konrad and Sanna visit their grandparents in the little town of Millsdorf, which lies on the other side of Mount Gars. On the way back to their home town, the children are surprised by a huge snowstorm in the high mountains. They wander around for hours until they finally find shelter in a mountain cave. Warmed by their grandmother's coffee brew and in a constant battle against their tiredness, they are amazed by magical northern lights and the cracking of the ice, while family and neighbours search for them in great anxiety.
