Rico, Oskar and the Deep Shadows

Andreas Steinhöfel was born in 1962 in Battenberg, works as a translator and reviewer, and writes screenplays. Above all, he is the author of numerous award-winning children's and young adult books. His bestseller "The Middle of the World" was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize in 1999 and has since been published in many countries around the world. In 2009, Andreas Steinhöfel received the Erich Kästner Prize for Literature, following in the footsteps of Peter Rühmkorf, Loriot, Robert Gernhardt, and Tomi Ungerer. He also received several awards in 2009 for "Rico, Oskar and the Deep Shadows," including the German Youth Literature Prize, the Catholic Children's and Young Adult Book Prize, and the "Reading Artist 2009" award, presented by the Retail Committee of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association.

Rico is supposed to keep a holiday diary. But for someone who constantly loses track of things, that's not so easy. When he meets Oskar, who wears a blue helmet, and the two of them get on the trail of the notorious ALDI kidnapper, Rico doesn't know which way is up anymore. At least with Oskar, the Deep Shadows lose some of their terror – and out of all this chaos, a wonderful friendship blossoms.
